Yes, that's right, the Administration reads my blog....

For those who were not already up to speed, the Bush Administration has unveiled their $7.1 Billion plan to fight a possible avian-flu pandemic.

Also, they've created a website to address the issue.

If you're wondering what this plan has to do with me and this site, then I would direct your attention here. Longtime readers, and people who've gone through the archives here, are aware that I've addressed this issue in the past, but lately I've somewhat let it slip. Sorry, my bad.

If you didn't already know, avian flu has spread from Asia to Europe; it's spread to the US is not unlikely. When humans are infected, the death rate is a little over 50% (and that's only in the verified cases, factoring in cases which were not officially verified, the percentage goes up much higher).

Luckily for all of us, some intelligent person within the Bush Administration was smart enough to read my posting on this issue, and they've decided to take a proactive stance regarding it. Outstanding work!

There is still much to be done, but the major step (funding) has been tread. Now vaccine companies have to aggressively study the virus and figure out what route to take to combat it. Additionally, the government has to be ready to inform people what to do, and what not to do, in the event of an outbreak (which many people consider unlikely, and hopefully it'll never happen; however to not be prepared would be foolhardy).

Hopefully the recent release of Episode III on DVD won't impede progress on this issue.
